Year 5 Trip to Kent Life

As part of our topic on Anglo-Saxon Britain, we would like to take the year 5 children to the Museum of Kent Life in Maidstone for an Anglo-Saxon Day on Wednesday 13^th November 2019. We feel that this trip will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to enhance their understanding of what life would have been like in Britain during Anglo-Saxon times. The children will be given the opportunity to take part in a variety of interactive workshops and demonstrations including: ‘Life under the Anglo-Saxons’ and ‘Meet an Anglo-Saxon Warrior’.

On the day, we will be leaving promptly at 9:00am in order to arrive at the museum in time for the first workshop. The children will therefore need to be in school promptly at 8:45am to be registered in time. We expect to arrive back to school at the normal time, however, if necessary we will keep you informed by text of any delays due to traffic.

Your child will require a packed lunch for the day and a spare bottle of water. If your child usually has a free school meal and you would like a packed lunch provided, then please indicate on the letter. Children will wear school uniform and we also ask that they wear appropriate footwear and a waterproof coat in case of poor weather.

During the day, the children will have the opportunity to visit the museum gift shop. We suggest that, if you wish, no more than £3.00 spending money is given to your child and kept in a named envelope or wallet/purse. Children will be responsible for their own money at all times throughout the trip.
