Year 6 Trip to Museum of Kent Life

As part of our topic on ‘Britain since 1930’, we would like to take the year 6 children to the Museum of Kent Life in
Maidstone. We feel that this trip would be a wonderful opportunity for the children, helping to enhance their
understanding of what life would have been like during the war. The children will take part in a variety of interactive
workshops and demonstrations including: evacuee experience, home guard, air raid warden, wartime food, jobs for
women and rag rug making.

There is no charge for the trip, we do though need your permission. Please may you complete the reply slip below
and return it to your child’s class teacher by Monday 11th November.

On the day, children will need to be in school by 8.30am so that we can leave at 8.45am promptly. The children will
travel by coach or school minibus. The activities at the museum do not finish until 2.40pm on the day, so we expect
to arrive back at school between 3.45pm and 4pm, traffic depending. Please may you collect your child from the
main school entrance, or, if they walk home, please give permission below. The children will be outside for some of
the day, so please ensure that your child is wearing sensible shoes and has a warm, waterproof coat in case of
inclement weather. Please may we ask for the children to wear full school uniform on the day as well.
Your child will require a packed lunch for the day and a spare bottle of water. Please also ensure that
your child wears appropriate footwear and brings a waterproof coat in case of inclement weather. Spending money
of up to £5.00 in a sealed envelope or named purse may be brought on the day to spend in the gift shop if you wish.
