To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, the pupils and staff of Garlinge Primary School and Nursery have been celebrating in style.
To mark this day in our British history, as a school, we celebrated this amazing historical occasion on Friday 5th May. The children were invited to wear non-school uniform with a red, white, and blue theme. During the morning, the children celebrated the coronation in class, participating in various activities in preparation for our whole school celebratory afternoon. Mrs Greenfield, who leads the history curriculum for the school, commented, “It was lovely to see the children come together to mark this historical memory for our school”.
On Friday afternoon, the whole school gathered for a celebratory picnic, whilst joining in various fun games and welcomed the school’s mascot, Gala to the event. During the afternoon, everyone stood in honour of the King and sung the national anthem. The fun-filled day ended with a celebratory jubilee biscuit made by the school’s amazing kitchen staff and the taking home of a commemorative badge and bookmark.
