Year 6 Celebration Day

On Wednesday 7th July, children in our current Year R through to 5 will be having a transition day. On this day Year 6 pupils will be taking part in a ‘Year 6 Celebration Day’ led by our PE team. We have planned a fun-filled time for the children to enjoy as we approach their last few days at Garlinge.

All children will arrive at school at the normal time and will come in via their usual entrance and move straight through to the Year 6 playground where they will be greeted by the PE team. Please can all children be dressed in their PE kit for the day and prepare for warm weather by applying sun cream, bringing a hat and a water bottle. Your child will also need to bring a packed lunch for the day as we will be having a picnic outside. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals and would normally have a hot school dinner a packed lunch will be provided by the school kitchen.

At the end of the day children will be leaving via the Year 6 entrance at the earlier time of 3pm. This is to avoid mixing with the ‘new’ Year 6 children who will also be leaving this exit point from 3:10pm.

Please contact your child’s current class teacher if you have any questions and we are looking forward to a fun and exciting day.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

The year 6 Leavers Assembly will be held in school on Wednesday 14th July. During the assembly, our year 6 chosen prize winners will be presented with their awards by Mr Williams, Mr Cope and Mrs Northrop.

This year, we are unable to invite parents into school for the assembly. However, you will be pleased to know that we will be creating a recording and will arrange for this to be sent to all of our year 6 parents and carers via their WEDUC app. We look forwards to sharing the assembly with you all.

Year 6 Leavers Festival

As we approach the end of term, I am pleased to inform you that we will be holding a Year 6
Leavers Festival. This will take place on the main Key Stage 2 playground on Thursday 15th
July from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. This will be a year 6 event, during which the children will be
organised and remain in their current class bubbles.

There will be no charge for this event; the school, as well as the PTFA, will be providing
drinks and ‘festival food and treats’ for all of the children. In addition to this, we have
organised for a disco and a professional photo booth. The children will be given the
opportunity to have photos with their class bubble friends and will be able to bring the
pictures home that evening. Thank you to the parents and carers that have returned their
permission slips for photos; if you do have any questions about this do please liaise with
your child’s class teacher.

Please may we ask that entry to the festival is via the usual year 6 gate, where the teachers
will collect the children and lead them to the larger playground. Please ensure that your
child arrives no earlier than 5.25pm and lines up in their class bubble in the usual way, in
order to continue following our current school risk assessment. When the festival finishes,
we will be sending one class out at a time from the usual year 6 gate. (Similar to the end of
our school day, but at 7.30pm).
